Westmoreland City Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1925 to provide fire protection to the villages of Westmoreland City and Biddle. As the first fire department in North Huntingdon Twp, services were also provided to the entire township until other fire departments were established. Today, the department is responsible for the villages of Westmoreland City, Biddle, Atlman Farms, Medic Farm area and Sandy Hill Rd.
North Huntingon Twp. is located in the western portion of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania that is situated approximately twenty-three miles east of the City of Pittsburgh. Our Westmoreland County designation is Station 3 and North Huntingdon Twp. Company 1.
We operate out of a single station with two fire pumpers, ventilation truck and a squad truck located on Broadway (Rt. 993) in Westmoreland City. Our services include fire suppression, ventilation, vehicle extrication and EMS support. In addition to our own area, we provide mutual aid first alarm responses to other fire departments in North Huntingdon Twp., Manor Borough, Penn Township, Borough of Adamsburg, Hempfield Twp. and Irwin Borough. We also provide Firefighter Rapid Intervention Response Service (R.I.T.) to Larimer V.F.D., Fairmont-Hahnown V.F.D. and Circleville V.F.D. in North Huntingdon Township. Our company responds to approximately 200 calls annually.
